The Marriage of Word and Spirit

March 1, 2022

The Marriage of Word and the Spirit

Most of us have experienced the challenge to stay focused in our prayers and to stop our minds from wandering. Try the practice of praying the Word and as you seek to allow the Word to ‘dwell richly in you', you will experience the Holy Spirit begin to apply his Word to your life or the situation you are praying for.

According to Paul in Ephesians 5 and its comparative text in Colossians 3, being filled with the Spirit is spoken of as allowing the Word of God to dwell richly in you.

Using the Bible and speaking the Word back to God makes prayer easy and enjoyable. When we engage in conversation with God around His Word, not only does it soften and cleanse our hearts, we also begin to see the situation that we are praying about through His eyes and can then pray in agreement with Him.

Knowing what the Word says about God's Will for us individually and corporately is an important tool that Holy Spirit can use to bring us to an understanding of how we can apply this tool to our lives. It gives us vision and order. Our priorities become His priorities and we are then able to sustain a life of prayer for our communities as He gives us endurance and patience with joy.
