MP Ed Fast Introduces Bill C-314 Regarding MAiD Expansion

For clarity, there are two separate bills regarding the expansion of MAiD. Bill C-39 tabled by The Honourable David Lametti seeks only to delay this bill by one year so they would have more time in committee to study its effects and may result in amendments. MP Ed Fast has introduced Bill C-314 to remove the expansion altogether.



According to a report by the Angus Reid Institute in partnership with Cardus, 6 out of 10 Canadians support MAiD in its present structure which allows those with a grievous and irremediable medical condition to be eligible. However, only 3 in 10 Canadians support the expansion of MAiD for those with a mental illness only as a basis for consideration.
