Facing the Sacred by Bonnie Thurston

by Richard Long,

I am blessed every day to get a daily devotion from the folks at Church of the Saviour in Washington D.C.

Here's a great one that came in earlier this week that really challenged me.

Facing the Sacred by Bonnie Thurston

"Why are we so unwilling to set aside Sabbath time? Does it have to do with our fear of facing ourselves or of facing "sacred moments"? If I stay busy enough, I can probably avoid both myself and God. But should I? One day each of us will have to face God and give an account of ourselves and our gifts, including our use of time."

Knowing what the Word says about God's Will for us individually and corporately is an important tool that Holy Spirit can use to bring us to an understanding of how we can apply this tool to our lives. It gives us vision and order. Our priorities become His priorities and we are then able to sustain a life of prayer for our communities as He gives us endurance and patience with joy.
